T-mobile is shaking up the industry with contract free plans

Written by on March 27, 2013 in iPhone, T-Mobile - No comments

T-Mobile just may be the phone carrier to watch lately, with all the new changes they have released to the public consumer. They are dropping contract plans completely, with a separate charge for the phone separating it from the voice/text/data package if you need a phone. It’s like buying a phone on credit, with a separate monthly service contract. Once your phone is paid off, your bill will drop to just the plan fees.

T-Mobile now has, or is getting the most popular phones out there. iPhone 5 is coming April 12th, Blackberry Z10, Samsung Galaxy S4, and even the HTC One at a soon to be announced date, with most phones starting at $99 down. This is ½ the cost of most other carriers as well for a subsidized phone.

As stated by T-Mobile CEO John Legere, quoted from the Verge:

“We’re unleashing everything,” T-Mobile CEO John Legere said during a candid, wild event in New York City. That includes not only new plans and the iPhone 5, but also one of our favorite Android phones in recent memory: the HTC One. It will be available on T-Mobile’s new LTE network and available with its new rate plans, for just $99 up front.”

What impact is this going to have on the other big 3 carriers, we don’t know yet. But one thing for sure is that competition is great for the consumer when you have selection and choices like this.
